Romantic Letterpressed Invitations with Rainbow Dip Dye Edges

Anna and Jonathan’s description of their vision for their wedding invitations started off like many do: they wanted something classic, soft, and romantic, but the last descriptor made me do a double take. They also wanted…rainbow. I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off, but I’ve found that combining disparate elements is often where the creative magic happens!

We used beautiful handmade paper from Porridge Papers in a very subtle and soft color palette of wedding white, cream, and whisper pink. The cards were letterpress printed in a soft grey by Somersault Letterpress for a wonderfully tactile experience. Once everything was printed, I then dip dyed the edges of their invitation card in four bright colors to achieve that rainbow look they were going for. This process was done by hand and was quite laborious—I had to dye each edge separately and lay all the invitations out to dry before moving onto the next color. After the invitations were dip dyed, I bundled everything together with colorful vellum wraps. All of that hard work paid off for some truly unique custom wedding invitations!
